About Us

Mulan Dance Studio is located in Sydney, Australia, and is dedicated to promoting Chinese dance culture. With a commitment to love and persistence in the art, we emphasize small-class teaching to discover and nurture the unique talents of each child. Our studio collaborates with the community and municipal government to raise awareness and appreciation of Chinese dance throughout Sydney.

Educational Philosophy

At Mulan Dance Studio, we believe every child is unique with their own potential. Our philosophy is to teach dance skills while inspiring inner potential and building self-confidence through Chinese dance culture.

We use small class sizes for personalized guidance, focusing on discovering and nurturing each child's talents. Our courses enhance dance skills, teamwork, creativity, and expression.

We collaborate with the community and government to promote Chinese dance culture, broadening students' perspectives and cultural understanding.

Our curriculum includes Chinese classical dance, ethnic folk dance, dance works for competitions or performances, foundation training, grade examinations, and acrobatic skills. We aim for each student to find joy, achieve their dance dreams, and gain confidence through our comprehensive programs.

Dance Teacher and Studio Founder

Miss Dorethy (Xi) Wan

Graduated from Sichuan Normal University and recipient of the National Arts Scholarship as well as an Outstanding Graduate of Sichuan Province, I am a certified teacher of Chinese Ethnic Folk Dance.

 

After relocating to Australia in 2016, I began teaching adult dance in 2017 and expanded to children's dance in 2020. With a strong educational background and numerous accolades, I bring both expertise and passion to my role as a dance instructor in Sydney, dedicated to promoting Chinese ethnic folk dance and inspiring students of all ages.

Achievements (Instructed or Choreographed by Miss Dorethy):
Group dance [The Museum Night 博物馆奇妙夜-唐印], 1st Place overall at the first Australian Showcase Gold Coast finals, the highest cash prize.
Duo Dance [Little Red Fox 小红狐], 2nd place at the first Australian Showcase Gold Coast Grand Final.
Solo dance [Little Tambour in Wonderland 游吟小乐鼓], 1st place overall in the solo competition of the second Hollywood Round Chinese Dance Competition in Sydney, 1st place in the Final.
Solo dance [When Spring is Passing My Dream 扶春入梦], 2nd place in the Petite at the second Australian Showcase Gold Coast Grand Final.
Solo dance [As beautiful as Jade 玉灵儿], ranked 3rd in the Junior at the second Hollywood Round Chinese Dance Competition in Sydney.
Duet dance [Big Fish and Begonia 大鱼海棠], 1st place in Petite at the second Hollywood Round Chinese Dance Competition Sydney Division, 2nd place in Petite at the Final.

Duet [Flower in the Flute 笛中花], 2nd place in Petite at the second Hollywood Round Chinese Dance Competition Sydney Division, 1st place in Petite at the final.
Group dance [Grandma's Bridge 外婆桥], 1st place in the Mini group of the Sydney Division of the 2nd Hollywood Round Chinese Dance Competition.
Group dance [Lantern Festival Night 元夕-上铃鼓], 2nd place in Petite group of the second Hollywood Round Chinese Dance Competition Sydney Division, Best Choreography Award, 1st place at the Final.

Solo dance [Liang Zhu], 1st place in Sichuan Talent Art Competition

Solo dance [Mulan], 2nd place in Sichuan Talent Art Competition

Duo dance [Walking in the Mountains and Rivers], 1st prize in Sichuan Normal University Art Festival Dance

Group dance [Dreaming of the Moon in Liangshan], 1st prize in Sichuan Province Seventh People's University Art Festival Dance, 2nd prize in National People's University Art Festival, was selected for the Lotus Award exhibition.

Tumbling Technique Coach

Guo Hongfeng

Served as a coach for the Chinese National Women's Gymnastics Team from 1995 to 1998 and again from 2002 to 2007, achieving numerous world-class accolades, including second and third place in the uneven bars at the 26th Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. Since 2015, I have been the head coach of the Shandong Women's Gymnastics Team.

 

Currently, Coach Guo is also a gymnastics coach at Pymble Ladies' College, a prestigious private girls' school in Sydney.

Dance Teacher and Admin

Aida Qu

Graduated with honors from Shenyang Art School, she has participated in numerous large-scale performances and TV program recordings and is a certified teacher of Beijing Dance Academy. She joined Mulan Dance in 2024, focusing on soft dance posture correction, artistic skills protection, and administrative work.

Passionate about dance, she is dedicated, hardworking, and patient with students, striving to provide the best education for every dance enthusiast.
